Shopian, Oct 23 (GNS): Fresh snowfall was recorded at Pir Ki Gali along the historic Mughal Road on Friday evening, bringing a further dip in temperatures across the upper reaches of Poonch district.

Officials said light snowfall was witnessed at Pir Ki Gali and adjoining higher areas. However, the Mughal Road, which connects Shopian in south Kashmir with the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, remains open to traffic.

The snowfall has intensified the cold, particularly in higher-altitude areas, prompting people to wear warmer clothes as temperatures continue to fall.

Officials said they were monitoring the prevailing weather conditions and advised commuters to exercise caution while travelling along the route, particularly in higher reaches where roads could become slippery.

The Mughal Road serves as an important alternative route connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Pir Panjal region of Jammu division.
