Anantnag: A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel shot himself dead with his service rifle in Ashmuqam area of South Kashmir’s Annatnag district, officials said on Friday.
A BSF personnel who was from India’s Assam state shot himself with his service rifle during Amarnath Pilgrimage (Yatra) duty at JNV Ashmuqam, an official said.
The deceased personnel was posted with 108 F Coy battalion, he said.
He further said that soon after he shot himself, his colleagues shifted him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The official said that further investigation in this regard has been taken up.
