Srinagar, Nov 08, 2024: At least three youths from Srinagar have been arrested in connection with a grenade attack case and booked under the UAPA, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdhi said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, the IGP said, "After thorough investigations, three persons affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit were found to be behind the TRC grenade attack."
He identified the arrested suspects as Usama Yasin Sheikh, Umar Fayaz Sheikh, and Afnan Ahmed, all residents of Ikhrajpora, Srinagar.
"All three have been booked under the UAPA, and a case has been lodged at Kothibagh police station," he stated.
"They carried out this act at the behest of Pakistan-based handlers," the IGP added.
At least 12 civilians sustained injuries in the attack. The grenade was hurled at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bunker near the TRC, but it missed the intended target and landed on the roadside, injuring 12 people.
