Joint operation in Rajpora leads to arrest; case registered under UAPA, Arms Act

Pulwama, May 2 A Rajpora resident accused of being an overground worker (OGW) was arrested on Saturday after forces recovered arms and explosives from his possession in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said.

The arrest was made during a joint search operation in Qasbayar along CB Nath Road, launched on specific intelligence inputs.

“During the operation, one militant associate, identified as Mohammad Umar Malik of Kachipora, was apprehended,” an official said.

He said the forces recovered a pistol, a magazine, live ammunition and two hand grenades from the accused, along with other incriminating material.

The operation was carried out by Pulwama Police in coordination with the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF’s 183 Battalion.

Police have registered a case under FIR No. 75/2026 at Police Station Rajpora under relevant provisions of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

“Further investigation is underway,” the official added.
