Poonch, Jan 11 — Vehicular traffic was resumed on the Mughal Road on Sunday after the key link between the Kashmir Valley and the Pir Panjal region remained shut for seven days due to bad weather and snow clearance work, officials said.

“The road has been reopened for traffic, but commuters must exercise utmost caution, especially on high-altitude stretches,” SSP Traffic Rural Farooq Qaisar said while confirming the restoration of movement.

He said traffic on the route will be strictly regulated and allowed only during a fixed window. “Vehicles will be permitted to ply between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm, and these timings will be enforced strictly to ensure safety and smooth regulation,” Qaisar said.

The Mughal Road is a crucial alternative corridor connecting south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch districts in the Pir Panjal region.

Traffic police have advised commuters to follow official advisories, avoid unnecessary travel and maintain lane discipline. “We urge people to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on the route so that movement remains safe and hassle-free,” the officer said.

Officials said the road conditions will continue to be monitored and any change in traffic regulations will be announced as required in the interest of public safety.
