Srinagar, 17 Feb: Kashmir is set to receive a wet spell from tomorrow as a fresh western disturbance approaches, bringing light to moderate rainfall across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, while some areas, especially in higher reaches, may witness heavy rain or snowfall before weather conditions improve on February 21.

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected on February 18, followed by widespread showers on February 19, with intensity expected to increase on February 20.

In Kashmir Valley, temperatures are expected to drop sharply, with snowfall possible in scattered higher reaches if heavy precipitation continues, while on February 19, temperatures are forecasted to range between 15 and 18°C before falling further to around 7°C the next day, it said.

The Pir Panchal and Chenab regions are likely to receive more precipitation than the Kashmir Valley, with Ramban, Kishtwar, and Doda districts in Chenab expected to witness moderate to heavy showers, while the Pir Panjal range, including Gulmarg, Sinthan Top, Peer Ki Gali, and other areas along the Mughal Road, may see significant snowfall.

With relatively higher temperatures, lightning and thundershowers are expected, and the wet spell is set to subside from February 21, bringing an overall improvement in weather conditions.
