Srinagar, Mar 28 — The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday appointed three advocates as Law Officers for the Srinagar wing of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, assigning one as Additional Advocate General and two as Deputy Advocate Generals.

According to Government Order No. 3957-JK (LD) of 2026 dated March 28, “Shabaz Sikandar Mir has been appointed as Additional Advocate General, while Tariq Ahmad Lone and G N Sofi have been appointed as Deputy Advocate Generals.”

The order, issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, states that the appointments will be for a period of one year and may be extended based on performance. It adds that the engagement will be “governed by the rules and conditions laid down in previous government orders issued in 2015, 2017 and 2019.”

The government has made the appointments conditional upon submission of eligibility documents as prescribed under Notification SRO 98 of 2016. It further notes that the appointments “shall remain subject to any directions” passed in the ongoing Public Interest Litigation titled Sushil Chandel vs Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and others.

As per administrative instructions, the newly appointed Law Officers have been directed to submit daily case-related inputs through the Director Litigation Kashmir, along with weekly and fortnightly reports to the Law Department in prescribed formats.
