GAZA, 2 January, 2025: At least 34 Israeli airstrikes across Gaza on Thursday killed 71 Palestinians, with continued bombardment throughout the besieged strip, according to medical sources cited by Al Jazeera.
Among the attacks, Israel's military targeted the al-Mawasi area, a designated "humanitarian zone" in southern Gaza, killing at least 12 people.
Moreover, Gaza's ongoing humanitarian crisis deepened as a seventh infant died from the cold, bringing the total number of hypothermia-related deaths to eight as thousands of displaced Palestinians have been struggling with heavy rainfall that has flooded their makeshift shelters, exacerbating the dire conditions.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority took action against Al Jazeera, suspending its broadcasting in the occupied West Bank. The PA accused the network of airing "misleading" material, a move that Al Jazeera condemned.
Since the Israel’s war on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, Israel has killed at least 45,581 Palestinians, with over 108,000 injured.
On that same day, Hamas-led attacks on Israel killed at least 1,139 people, and more than 200 were taken captive.
