Srinagar: An assistant sub-inspector of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, posted in Srinagar, was found dead in his room in the Ahmad Nagar area of the city, officials said on Saturday.
He was later identified as Mohammad Shafi. However, his age and residence were unknown.
An official stated that the officer, who was stationed at the Ahmad Nagar police station, was found unconscious in his room.
He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
