SRINAGAR, SEPT 25 — The Srinagar Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of the upcoming “Pedal Through Paradise” Cycle Race-2026, scheduled to take place this Sunday, September 27, 2026.
To ensure the safety of the participants, Boulevard Road and several key connecting routes will remain closed to general traffic from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
The high-profile cycling event is set to cover two major stretches: from Lalit Ghat (Police Golf Course) to Nagbal Chowk via Foreshore Road, and from Lalit Ghat to Harwan via Shalimar.
During the three-hour race window, no general commuter traffic will be allowed on Boulevard Road from Lalit Ghat towards Harwan (via Shalimar) and towards Pandach (via Zakura). Additionally, strict restrictions will be in place at major intersections:
- No traffic will be permitted from R.M. Bagh Crossing or Badyari towards Lalit Crossing, except for vehicles officially associated with the race.
- Commutation from Dalgate to Nishat via Badyari and Rainawari will be blocked.
- Vehicles moving from Nishat towards Lal Chowk via the Brien Police Station Crossing will not be allowed.
Traffic Diversions in Place
To minimise congestion, the Traffic Police has mapped out alternative routes for motorists:
- Harwan/New Theed Commuters: Advised to travel via the Burzahama–Chandpora–Tailbal–Zakura–Malbagh–Illahibagh–90 Feet Road corridor (and vice versa).
- Ganderbal/Nagbal to Lal Chowk Commuters: Advised to take the 90 Feet Soura Road route (and vice versa).
Authorities confirmed that medical emergencies and airport-bound passengers will be exempted from the primary blocks. They will be permitted to proceed via the designated Foreshore–Dargah–Khanyar Road route.
Official parking zones have been set up at the Golf Course, Barista, Zabarwan Park, and Nehru Park up to Lalit Crossing to accommodate vehicles.
Expressing regret for the temporary inconvenience, authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel on the affected routes during the race hours. For real-time updates or assistance, commuters can reach out directly to the Traffic Police Control Room by dialing 103.
