Srinagar: The Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of CRPF (central reserve Police Force have been deployed in the forests of Kashmir with the first batch of CoBRA commandos being deployed in north Kashmir’s Kupwara.
This is the first time that the Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA), created in 2009 to fight Maoist insurgents, have been moved out of central and eastern India and sent to J&K, officials aware of the matter told Hindustan Times.
The CoBRA commandos are known for their rigorous training, which equips them to cover a maximum distance of 72 kilometers within a jungle and return to their base on the same day. Their specialized training includes helicopter-borne insertions into dense forested regions.
