Baramulla, Oct 22 (GNS): Security forces on Thursday apprehended two suspected overground workers (OGWs) and recovered a pistol, ammunition and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from their possession in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.

The arrests were made during a joint operation by the Indian Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Baramulla Police in the Darpura Nursery area near Delina Ghat, following what officials described as a credible intelligence input.

During a search, the joint team recovered a Turkish-made Kanik pistol, a magazine containing 10 rounds and two IEDs, officials said.

The two apprehended persons hail from the Chinkipura area of Sopore, they added.

“Prima facie, both were found to be working as overground workers (OGWs) and are likely to be involved in the movement of weapons and explosives for militants,” officials said.

Further details about the case were not immediately available.
