Srinagar, September 5: September snowfall in Kashmir’s higher reaches has brought down temperatures across the Valley, with fresh snow reported from several high-altitude areas.
Snowfall was reported from Central Kashmir’s Gumri and Zojila, the upper slopes of Tatakooti Peak, as well as other extremely high-altitude sectors of the Pir Panjal Range.
The snowfall in the higher reaches has brought a chill to the weather across Kashmir, even as the plains continued to receive rain.
Kashmir’s capital Srinagar also received brief showers on Saturday, adding to the cooler weather conditions in the city.
The current temperatures recorded on Saturday were 11.4°C in Gulmarg, 15.4°C in Pahalgam, 24°C in Srinagar, 25.4°C in Banihal, 29.6°C in Anantnag, 24.8°C in Kupwara and 33°C in Jammu, according to the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar.
The fresh snowfall comes in the first week of September, marking an early spell of winter-like weather in Kashmir’s higher elevations.
