4 Killed, 2 Missing as Vehicle Plunges Into Chenab River

Kishtwar, January 5,2025: At least four people were killed, and two others are missing after a vehicle plunged into the Chenab River in the Sanyas area of Kishtwar district on Sunday.
 
According to officials, a Tata Mobile vehicle (JK17A-8709) carrying passengers skidded off the road near Sanyas while en route to Gulabgarh from Massy, falling approximately 150 meters into the Chenab River.
 
Four bodies have been recovered and shifted to SDH Atholi for medico-legal formalities. The deceased have been identified as:
 
Raj Kumar, 22, son of Panna Lal, resident of Garh Padder
 
Mukesh Kumar, 29, son of Man Singh, resident of Garh Padder
 
Haqiqat Singh, 28, son of Sewa Ram, resident of Garh Padder
 
Satish Kumar, 26, son of Nath Ram, resident of Garh Padder
 
Two individuals, identified as Ashok Kumar (driver) and Navrattan (vehicle owner), remain missing.
 
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Javeed Ahmad Mir, confirmed the death toll and stated that efforts are ongoing to trace the missing persons.
 

Rescue operations continue along the river to locate the missing individuals.
