Anantnag/Kulgam: After a minor girl from south Kashmir’s Turka Tachloo village was killed due to suspected case of Hepatitis-A on Friday, another minor has succumbed to the water-borne disease on Sunday.
However, the gender of the minor was not immediately confirmed.
CMO Kulgam, Dr Rafiq said that six cases of hepatitis-A were confirmed after routine sampling and all these six children are students of the same school.
“It is being ascertained what kind of water they were consuming, while everything is being observed,” he said.
“Majority of the samples (around 100) have been found negative while six are positive among them so far and two have died.
Four other stable and under treatment,” he added.
Six cases of Hepatitis-A have been reported in the village among them two have died while four are under observation, KNO quoted an anonymous official.
The Turka Tachloo village is part of Anantnag district, however, it falls under the jurisdiction of Kulgam in terms of Health and Jal Shakti (water department) blocks.
“Both district magistrates of Kulgam and Anantnag are monitoring the situation in the village,” he added.
