Srinagar: Kashmir capital’s historic Badamwari (almond garden) has been thrown open for the public with authorities saying the almond bloom will be witnessed in the next 7-8 days.
The visitors, especially the tourists who come from different parts of India were seen clicking pictures at the famous and historic garden.
Javed-ul-Islam, a tourist from Delhi, said that the garden is a wonderful place to click pictures and that people from outside the valley must visit here.
“Kashmir is a blessed land, filled with picturesque places and Badamwari is one among them. It was a wonderful experience altogether,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Floriculture department, Farooq Ahmad Rather also visited the park on Thursday where he said that only 20 percent of almond trees are in bloom and the complete bloom will flower in the next 7-8 days.
He said that the garden is mostly visited by the people living around Srinagar City and the tourists as well.
He added that the garden spread over an area of 300 kanals has 1500 almond trees with different varieties.
Pertinently, the almond garden located on the foothills of historic Koh e Maran in Srinagar, holds much significance as it heralds the arrival of spring in Kashmir.
