Rishikesh/Amritsar, March 3 โ The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned the mob attack on two Sikh businessmen in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, and the vandalism of their showroom.
ย
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has sparked outrage, with SGPC urging immediate action from authorities.
ย
SGPC chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan has written to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and state police, demanding strict action against those responsible.
ย
โViral footage shows a mob physically assaulting the Sikh traders and pelting stones at their showroom, causing damage,โ Mannan stated.
ย
He also pointed out that one of the attackers forcibly removed a victimโs turban and desecrated his Kes (unshorn hair), an act considered sacrilegious in Sikhism.
ย
Mannan urged authorities to include charges related to hurting religious sentiments in the case.
ย
In his letter, he called for a fair and thorough investigation, swift identification of the perpetrators, and immediate legal action.ย
