A Hindu Tailor was beheaded by two Muslim men in Rajasthan’s Udaipur for supporting (now suspended) BJP Leader Nupur Sharma who made blasphemous remarks against the last prophet of Islam and absconding since the controversy.
Her comments sparked a diplomatic row after the Muslim world denounced her remarks and several Indian envoys were summoned by several Islamic countries as a mark of protests.
The victim was identified as Kanhaiya Lal, who was killed on Tuesday by two Muslim men and also filmed the act and posted it online on social media.
However, the Police have arrested the two men, who had identified themselves in the video.
Three weeks before his murder, Kanhaiya Lal had been arrested by the police for allegedly hurting religious feelings, Indian Express reported.
He had asked for police protection after his release, citing threats to his life.
Meanwhile, the state government of Rajasthan has suspended internet services and banned large gatherings and appealed to people to stay calm.
However, the Govt of India (central) has asked the National Investigative Agency – India’s top anti-terrorism agency – to investigate the incident.
