Intensifying war against Drug abuse in Kashmir, J&K Police booked four drug peddlers under PSA (Public Safety Act) in South Kashmir’s Awantipora and arrested one in North Kashmir’s Sopore.
“Under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad, Police established checkpoint at Bahrampora area and intercepted a person identified as Gulzar Ahmad Zargar Alias Sheeda. 1.196Kgs Hash was recovered from him.” Police said in a statement.
Earlier Police in Awantipora seized huge quantity of contraband substances from the possession of four drug peddlers identified as Mohammad Ayoub Akhoon, Tariq Ahmad Mir – both residents of Tulbagh, Lateef Ahmad Wani and Yawar Yousf Sofi – both residents of Kadlabal Pampore, the statement reads.
Besides that, Police organized drug awareness programmes in Central Kashmir’s Budgam and north Kashmir’s Handwara, another statement by police said.
In Budgam, the programme was held at Bright Horizons Higher Secondary Institute Sheikhpora.
In Handwara, police in collaboration with School Education Department held a day-long awareness programme on Drug De-addiction at Government Higher Secondary School Tarathpora which was inaugurated by ASP Handwara Shri Irshad Hussain Rather-JKPS, it added.
