New Delhi: Fifteen out of nine patients have tested positive for the New Covid Variant Omicron in India’s Capital New Delhi on Sunday, who flew from "at risk" countries on Saturday.
"First omicron case has been detected in Delhi and the patient was admitted to the LNJP Hospital. He had returned from Tanzania. Till now, 17 people (who come from abroad) have tested positive for Covid and they have been admitted to the hospital," Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said.
Out of fifteen people, nine are confirmed coronavirus patients, while six have symptoms like sore throat, fever and history of contact with patients – their samples have been sent for genome sequencing.
According to the Centre (India), the countries designated as "at-risk" include the UK, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Israel.
