Srinagar/New Delhi: NCERT National Council of Educational Research and Training (an autonomous organisation of the Government of India, established in 1961) has deleted chapters from political science on the accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India in 1947, reports said.
The previous version of the textbook mentioned that Jammu and Kashmir’s accession was based on a promise to protect its autonomy under Article 370 of the Constitution.
However, the revised version of the textbook’s 10th chapter titled “The Philosophy of the Constitution” does not include any reference to Jammu and Kashmir’s conditional accession.
The authors of the textbook have also removed a reference to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad from the first chapter.
Article 370 of the Indian Constitution (semi-autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir) was abrogated by BJP- led-Govt of India on 5 August, 2019.
