Srinagar/New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (Govt of India) has the ordered promotion of the three IPS (Indian Police Service) officers of the 1997 batch as additional director generals of Police (ADGPs).
Sources said that MHA has promoted IGP (Kashmir region) Vijay Kumar, Garib Das, and Alok Kumar as ADGP.
Under the directions of the IGP Vijat Kumar, more than 100 militants were killed in the encounters since the beginning of this year which is twice the number of militants killed last year in the same duration, as per official data.
Police had said the encounters (military operations) were intensified in the wake of targeted killings in the region.
