Kunzer: A 52-year-old government employee, working as a lineman in the Power Development Department, died after receiving an electric shock while repairing a power cable in the Batapora area of Kunzar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
He has been identified as Bashir Ahmed Khan, son of Ghulam Ahmed, a resident of Ganai Mohalla, Burun Pattan.
The victim is survived by two children who allege that their father died due to the negligence of the Power Department, which restored the power supply without informing him.
“He received an electric shock because the power supply, which had snapped, was restored without his knowledge,” they said.
The victim’s family demanded an investigation into his death, stating that no safety protocols were followed while he was restoring the power cable.
