Sopore: Local residents of Maharajpora area in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Tuesday held a protest demonstration over lack of basic facilities in their locality.
Scores of men and women gathered in front of Police Station Sopore and blocked the Sopore—Bandipora road for hours. However, traffic was later restored after police intervention.
A shortage of drinking water, poor drainage facility and dilapidated roads have worsened our lives, protesters said.
"The area has been overlooked by the consecutive governments and nobody seems to be taking our issues seriously," they said.
We are being victimized and be-fooled by so-called unionists who only visit only during elections, they added.
Meanwhile, the residents urged the LG administration to look into their genuine demands so they could heave a sigh of relief.
