Riyaz Attari, one of the Muslim men who filmed the brutal murder of a tailor in Rajahatan’s Udaipur has photos with the leaders of the BJP Minority Morcha and the RSS-promoted Muslim Rashtriya Manch in Rajasthan, reveals India Today’s investigative report.
Tailor Kanhaiya Lal was killed Tuesday afternoon by two cleaver-wielding men, who posted a grisly video of the crime online claiming responsibility for the murder, accusing him of insulting the last Prophet of Islam in a social media post.
The two accused, Riaz Akhtari and Gos Mohammad, have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days and the case has been given to NIA National Investigation Agency.
Riyaz Attari has been described by a local Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader as a “dedicated worker of the BJP” in a Facebook post less than two years ago.
The investigative report was published by India Today two days ago.
Irshad Chainwala and Mohammad Tahir who are influential members of the Rajasthan State BJP Minority Morcha and the RSS-promoted Muslim Rashtriya Manch have several photographs with Attari on their facebook timelines posing next to the senior Udaipur BJP leader Ravindra Shrimali.
Other posts show Attari attending BJP events wearing a party scarf and being garlanded by Chainwala and Tahir.
Images accessed by India Today’s investigative reporters show BJP’s Minority member Irshad Chainwala, welcoming the killer after his return from the Muslim holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia in 2019.
Moreover, in another photograph from November 2018, posted on Chainwala’s Facebook page, Attari can be seen wearing a BJP scarf and standing amongst a group of BJP supporters with Chainwala and Tahir.
However, BJP member Chainwala said that he knows Riyaz Attari and Riyaz had attended many events of Gulab Ji (BJP leader but he (Riyaz) would often show up at those events without an invitation.
“He would come on his own. He said he wanted to work with the party,” Chainwala told India Today.
When Indian National Congress leaders latched the media reports over the connection links on social media, the BJP on Saturday vehemently denied links to one of the killers.
“We have no links to either of the accused," Sadiq Khan, the chief of the BJP’s minority wing in the state, said at a news conference, repeating that the killing was a failure of the Congress government in Rajasthan.
