India reported 1,59,632 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, 12.4% higher than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
Among these, 3,623 cases were of the highly transmissible Omicron variant of coronavirus.

Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (242), followed by West Bengal with 19 daily deaths.
Among all the states, Maharashtra recorded the highest Covid-19 cases at 41,434, followed by Delhi with 20,181 cases, West Bengal with 18,802 cases, Tamil Nadu with 10,978 cases, and Karnataka with 8,906 cases.
