India is reporting communal violence along Hindu-Muslim lines during the religious processions for a second consecutive year now.
The violence inculcates loud music outside mosques, burning of vehicles, inciting speeches, stone-pelting, flag hoisting, brandishing swords and pistols, and provocative communal slogans.
Reportedly; In Bihar’s Sasaram and Biharsharif areas, section 144 was imposed after a mosque, properties, and vehicles were set on fire on Friday.
Locals accused the Hindutva mob of targeting Muslim properties in the town, However, Police claimed both groups were involved in the clash.
In Delhi, Police denied permission to hold Friday prayers and a Ram Navami procession in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area – where extreme communal violence was reported in April last year.
Despite that, the group of men in saffron took out a procession from the park in the K block area of Jahangirpuri to its B block, before police eventually put a stop to it.
The riot-like situation was also reported in Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) and Jalgaon area of Maharashtra, Mathura area in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat’s Vadodara, and west Bengal’s Howrah.
Late year, 140 people were arrested in communal violence cases in Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka when Muslims were observing the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and Hindus were celebrating the festivity of Hunuman Jayati and RaM Navi.
