Chenab: After men, now the Jammu and Kashmir Police have started weapon training of women in Village Defence Guards (VDG), civilian militia in Chenab region’s Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, The Tribune Reported.
“Presently, at least 250 armed and trained women VDG members are being prepared for the district,” said Doda Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom.
The Ministry of Home Affairs revived the formation of Village Defence Groups (VDGs) in March last year as militancy expanded to the Pir Panchal and Chenab regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
