Srinagar/New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs appointed IPS Nalin Prabhat as the Special Director General of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. He will assume the role on October 1 as the current DGP, RR Swain, concludes his tenure on September 30.
According to the order, Nalin Prabhat, a 1992 batch IPS officer, was transferred from the Andhra Pradesh cadre to the AGMUT cadre on Wednesday.
Prabhat has been posted to Jammu and Kashmir as Special Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police with immediate effect until September 30.
The order specifies that following the retirement of incumbent J&K DGP RR Swain, IPS Nalin Prabhat will take over as DGP, Jammu and Kashmir from October 1 and will serve until further orders.
