Srinagar: At least seven residential houses were blazed in twin fire incidents in Srinagar city on Friday evening.
Six residential houses were partially damaged in a fire incident in Gadood Bagh area of (downtown) Habbakadal and one residential house was partially damaged in Bemina, Joint Director F&ES department, Bashir Ahmad Shah said.
He said one fireman identified as Harmeet Singh, was also injured in Habbakadal area while dousing the flames, however, cause of fire was not immediately known.
Meanwhile, Srinagar police advised the residents to keep basic fire equipment handy as many fire incidents are being reported in the district.
“There are many incidents of fire being reported in Srinagar daily. Citizens are advised to keep basic fire safety equipment handy & mustuse authentic heating appliances. Legal action will be taken as per law against shopkeepers, if any are selling fake & duplicate equipment,” police tweeted.
