SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 20: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness predominantly dry weather through the rest of September, with brief spells of rain expected at isolated places in North and Central Kashmir on September 24 and 27, the Meteorological Centre said.
A MeT official said weak Western Disturbances are likely to affect the region during the evenings of September 24 and 27, potentially triggering brief spells of rain at isolated locations.
“Rain is likely at isolated places in North and Central Kashmir towards the evening on both days,” the official said, adding that no significant weather activity is expected during the remaining days of the month.
The weather department has advised farmers to utilise the prevailing dry conditions for apple and paddy harvesting, besides carrying out other agricultural operations.
Meanwhile, temperatures remained below normal at most places across Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours.
Jammu city recorded the highest maximum temperature in the region at 32.2°C, while Gulmarg recorded the lowest maximum at 18.2°C.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 27.5°C, against the normal of 27.4°C, while the minimum settled at 10.5°C, which was 1.5°C below normal.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 26°C and a minimum of 8°C, while Pahalgam recorded 22.5°C and 5.2°C, respectively.
Kupwara recorded a maximum of 28°C, while Kukernag and Gulmarg recorded 25.2°C and 18.2°C, respectively.
In the Jammu division, Katra recorded a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 18.2°C, while Banihal recorded 27.8°C and 11°C, respectively.
Bhadarwah recorded a maximum of 27.4°C and a minimum of 8.4°C.
No significant rainfall was recorded at most stations during the day. However, rainfall was recorded at a few places in the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am, including 9.4 mm at Kukernag and 1.2 mm each at Qazigund and Batote.
The MeT department reiterated its advisory for farmers to make use of the predominantly dry weather for harvesting and other farm-related activities.
