Srinagar: Chief Secretary of J&K administration AK Mehta inaugurated Srinagar’s Tulip festival today at (Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden) largest Tulip garden in Asia.
“Kashmir has recorded highest ever tourist footfall in the last six months and that a further increase in tourist arrival is expected ahead,” he said after inauguration.
Addressing media, the Chief Secretary further said 15 lakh tulips with 68 verities will mesmerize the tourists this season.
Before becoming Tulip Garden, it was called Siraj Bagh that grew Almonds, dry apricot, Pistachio Glodi, Cut Flowers, fruits like Pears & Apples.
Meanwhile, a large number of tourists and locals thronged the garden on the first day amid a series of musical and cultural events.
Tourism in Kashmir was badly hit due to three subsequent lockdowns since 5 August, 2019.
