Poonch: Indian Army on Monday said that a captain and a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) were killed in an “accidental grenade blast” and many injured along Line of Control in Mendhar sector in Poonch district.
The deceased were identified as captain Anand and JCO Bhagwan Singh.
“Last night, an accidental grenade blast occurred in Mendhar Sector, district Poonch when troops were performing their duties along the Line of Control,” a defence ministry spokesman based in Jammu said.
“The explosion led to the injuries of many soldiers," he said
During the treatment one officer and one JCO succumbed to their injuries, he added.
The Number of injured personnel has not been revealed in the statement.
An army officer said that a court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
