Ramban: Four Amarnath pilgrims, who were on their way to the Hindu holy cave shrine of Amarnath in the Himalayas of south Kashmir were injured in a road accident near the gateway of Kashmir valley in the Banihal area of Ramban district on Friday morning, officials said.
As per reports, a vehicle carrying the pilgrims turned turtle on Srinagar-Jammu national highway near Sherbabi area of Banihal at around 06:00 am, resulting in injuries to four devotees.
The injured were taken to SDH (sub-district hospital) Banihal, where their condition is said to be stable.
The have been identified as Kundan Kumar from India’s (uttar Pradesh) UP, Vinayak Gupta, Anita Gupta, and Gudiya—all residents of Chhattisgarh.
Meanwhile, authorities in Ramban district have closed the National Highway for the pilgrims and tourist vehicles at around 1.30 pm on a daily basis due to security reasons.
Moreover, they said no unregistered yatris or tourists will be allowed to move towards valley after 3.30 PM.
"To ensure this, a cut- off will be established at JP Gate Chanderkote which will stop the unregistered yatris and tourists to lodge them in yatri niwas chanderkot,” authorities said.
