Rafiabad: Two militants who were killed in the Hadipora area of Rafiabad on Wednesday, June 19, were identified as foreigners by the Indian military on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference at Pohrupet, Commander of the 7th Sector Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Deepak, identified the militants as Usman and Umar from Pakistan (Pakistan-Controlled Kashmir), affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit.
Usman had been active in Kashmir since 2020, he said.
The operation was launched after J&K police received intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in a house in Hadipora, Rafiabad. After zeroing in on the house, the two militants were killed, he said.
He added that a large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of the operation.
“The killing of the duo is a significant success for the forces. In the past few weeks, there has been a high operational momentum. We are enjoying continuous support from the people,” he added.
