Srinagar: Ahead of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, three Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) leaders are set to rejoin the Congress party in the upcoming days.
These leaders include former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Uri, Taj Mohiddin, former MLA from Shangus, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, and former MLA from Doda, Abdul Majeed Wani.
Sources have indicated that they have reached out to the party leadership in New Delhi. During a recent meeting between the party high command and Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, it was conveyed that all three leaders wish to return to the party.
"Now, efforts are underway to facilitate their reintegration into the party. Party members who were initially opposed to their rejoining are being persuaded to accept the high command's decision," a source said.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Viqar Rasool Wani confirmed, "Yes, these leaders have approached the party high command in New Delhi, and they may be rejoining the Congress party soon."
Taj Mohiddin, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, and Abdul Majeed Wani joined Ghulam Nabi Azad's political party on November 8, 2022. They were part of a group of political leaders who decided to support Azad's new political venture after he parted ways with the Indian National Congress to form the Democratic Azad Party.
