Srinagar, March 6 —Former Union Minister Saifuddin Soz said that restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s internal autonomy remains the genuine demand of its people.
In a statement, Soz criticized J&K’s political leadership for failing to respond to what he described as the government of India’s onslaught on the region’s long-standing autonomy.
“The political class has shown itself in a poor light by not standing up for the people’s aspirations,” he said.
He referenced Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah’s decision to support J&K’s accession to India, stating that the late leader had received assurances from the government of India that the region’s internal autonomy would be fully respected.
