Poonch, Jan 2— Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday attached an immovable property belonging to an exfiltrated resident now based in Pakistan, officials said, as part of continuing action against individuals accused of militancy-related activities.

Police said the property belongs to Jamal Lone alias Jamala, son of Sultan Lone alias Sultana, a resident of Chamber Kanari in the Mandi area, who is accused of operating as a terror handler from Pakistan.

“The attachment was carried out on the directions of a competent court in connection with FIR No. 07/2002 registered at Police Station Mandi under Sections 2 and 3 of the Enemy and Inimical Activities Act,” an official said.

The attached property comprises 6 kanal and 13.5 marlas of land spread across multiple khasra numbers in Tehsil Mandi and has an assessed value of about Rs 13.36 lakh, police said.

According to officials, the accused had exfiltrated to Pakistan or Pakistan-controlled Jammu and Kashmir and has remained absconding for years, evading the legal process.

“Despite repeated efforts, the accused could not be apprehended and was subsequently declared a proclaimed offender by the court,” the official said, adding that the attachment order followed continued non-compliance with legal summons.

Police said the property was attached by the Poonch Police in coordination with the Revenue Department after completion of all legal formalities, including verification and documentation.

Officials said the move is part of ongoing efforts to enforce court orders and act against properties linked to individuals accused of activities deemed inimical to the security of the country.
