Pakistan’s Missile Moves Questioned in UNSC Session

New York, May 6 —The United Nations Security Council (UNSC), which held an informal closed-door meeting in New York on Tuesday, raised concerns over Pakistan’s recent missile tests while calling on Islamabad to resolve its differences with India through bilateral dialogue.

UNSC also sought accountability for the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir and questioned Pakistan about the possible involvement of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The informal session, focused on the situation in Kashmir, began at 12:30 am and was attended by all 15 members of the Council, including Pakistan, which is currently serving a two-year term as a non-permanent member.

The Council also dismissed Pakistan’s allegation that the Pahalgam attack was a “false flag” operation staged by India. Instead, members pressed for clarity on affiliations and ‘cross-border’ elements possibly linked to the violence.

Concerns were also raised over Pakistan’s recent missile tests and nuclear rhetoric, which several members described as provocative and destabilizing in the region.

The UNSC has not released an official statement following the informal discussions.
