Srinagar, November 2, 2024: Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander and non-local militant Usman Bhai was killed, and four personnel, including two police officers, sustained injuries in a military operation in the Khanyar area of Srinagar on Saturday.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, confirmed that Usman Bhai, a Pakistani national and one of the most wanted LeT commanders, was killed in a fierce, day-long gunfight in Khanyar.

According to Birdi, Usman was wanted in several militancy-related cases, including the killings of non-locals and security forces. He was also involved in the killing of Inspector Manzoor.

Earlier, a joint team approached the suspected location, where the hiding militant opened fire, initiating the encounter, Birdi added.

As of this report, smoke could still be seen rising from the area as the house where the militant was hiding had been set ablaze.
