New Delhi: As Narendra Modi sets out to form a coalition government, his allies are demanding top positions in the ministries, including the Parliament Speaker post.

According to media reports, the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has asked for special category status for Andhra Pradesh, cabinet positions including one for his son Nara Lokesh in the new government, and funds for the capital city project of Amaravati.

Naidu also wants the Lok Sabha Speaker’s post for his party, in addition to the special category status for Andhra Pradesh, according to party sources. They added that Naidu has demanded the home and defence portfolios, currently held by Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, respectively, in the outgoing government.

Nitish Kumar is also reportedly seeking important ministries that would help bring projects to Bihar, particularly in agriculture and rural development.

Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party, which has five MPs, wants the railways portfolio, a position his late father Ram Vilas Paswan held for a long time.
