Srinagar: The J&K administration, led by LG Manoj Sinha, organized several Tiranga (Indian National Flag) rallies in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of India’s Independence Day. The rallies are part of the Government of India’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, officials said.
One such rally was carried out by the Central Reserve Police Force along the road by the famous Dal Lake on Wednesday morning. It commenced from the SKICC and concluded at Ghat No. 13 on Boulevard Road, flagged off by IG Srinagar Sector CRPF Ajay Kumar Yadav.
The 3 km Tiranga walkathon saw participation from the force’s members, including Mahila personnel from all battalions of the Srinagar Sector CRPF, they said.
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) also organized a Tiranga bike rally in the Batamaloo area of the city.
Rallies were also held in Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Shopian districts. Famous historical places and monuments, including the Martand Sun Temple in the Mattan area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir, were illuminated with the tricolour, officials said.
Several schools in J&K also organized rallies, with students and government teachers participating in them.
Security has been beefed up in the Kashmir valley to ensure incident-free Independence Day celebrations, with a multi-tier security net in place at the main function venue, which will be presided over by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
