India Objects Pakistan-China’s Statement on Kashmir

New Delhi: India strongly objected to the Pakistan-China statement issued on June 7, calling it "unwarranted references," and reiterated that Kashmir is an integral part of the country.

The China-Pakistan joint statement opposed any unilateral action to resolve the Kashmir dispute stating; “Jammu and Kashmir dispute is left over from history, and should be properly and peacefully resolved in accordance with the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements”.

However, India called the statement "unwarranted references” and reiterated its opposition to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which was mentioned in the joint statement at the conclusion of Pakistan Premier Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China for discussions with President Xi Jinping.

"We have noted unwarranted references to Jammu & Kashmir in the joint statement between China and Pakistan of June 7. We categorically reject such references," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

"Our position on the issue is consistent and well known to the concerned parties. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been, are, and will always remain integral and inalienable parts of India," he said.
