Doda: The Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation (HPTC) has temporarily halted bus services on the Chamba-Doda route due to recent militant attacks in the neighboring Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
On Monday, militants attacked the Indian military in Chenab valley’s Doda, killing four troopers amid reports of several groups of foreign militants taking cover in the higher reaches of Doda, which borders the Kashmir Valley on one side, Ramban and Udhampur districts on another, Kathua on the third, and Himachal on the fourth side.
In response to escalating security concerns, the Himachal Pradesh Police and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) have heightened vigilance, establishing checkpoints along the 216 km border shared between Chamba and Doda.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Abhishek Trivedi stressed for the coordination with central agencies, the Indian military, and Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure proactive measures are in place.
Local residents, including shepherds who traverse between Chamba and Doda, have been urged to remain cautious.
Despite receiving intelligence inputs, officials refrained from disclosing specifics about suspected militant movements in Himachal Pradesh.
