Bandipora: Gold ornaments worth fifteen lacs were stolen during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday from a residence in Wani Mohalla, Ajas, located in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
As per reports, the unfortunate incident occurred while the family was away attending a wedding ceremony in Srinagar.
The stolen valuables belong to Reyaz Ahmad Wani, the son of Ghulam Hassan Wani, who resides in Wani Mohalla, Ajas.
Recounting the distressing event, Reyaz Ahmad Wani stated, "We were attending our cousin's marriage in Srinagar. On Friday, there was no one at home. My sister, who returned yesterday late evening, noticed some suspicious things. The window of my brother's room was open and visible from outside. My sister informed my brother, and the family rushed back, only to find the golden ornaments and even some clothes had been stolen. Everything was scattered around the room as the wardrobes were broken into."
The victim expressed his concern and frustration, saying, "We have submitted a written application to the local police, seeking immediate action to apprehend the culprits responsible for this audacious theft."
In response to the incident, a police official assured, "We're in receipt of the application, and a thorough investigation is already underway."
