New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Tuesday rejected Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged Liquor excise scam.
The court believes that Arvind Kejriwal's arrest followed legal rules. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma stated during the verdict that the detention cannot be considered against the law.
The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, whom the Enforcement Directorate has labeled as the mastermind of the scam, will continue to stay in Delhi's Tihar Jail until April 15, following a city court's order from last week.
The Enforcement Directorate, which had custody of Mr. Kejriwal following his arrest, did not request an extension but did oppose his release. They argued that the CM had been uncooperative during several interrogation sessions.
