Baramulla: The administration on Tuesday renamed the Main Chowk, Baramulla with “Bindaas Chowk” after a cop, Mudasir Ahmad alias Bindaas, who was killed in an encounter (military operation) in Kreeri area of north Kashmir on May 25 this year and the foundational stone was laid by DGP Dilbagh Singh.

It is pertinent to mention that the J&K administration under LG Manoj Sinha declared to rename bridges, roads, and schools, after the names of those people who died for India’s integrity.

An official said that the foundation stone for the same was laid by Jammu and Kashmir police Chief Dilbag Singh who was accompanied by ADGP Vijay Kumar.

Mudasir Ahmed alias Bindaas, a constable in J&K police, was killed in an encounter in Kreeri on May 25 and the Chowk was renamed after approval for the same was given by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

Mohammad Maqsood Sheikh, father of the slain cop was thankful to J&K police and said that he was proud of his son who sacrificed his life.

"He made the nation proud by his supreme sacrifice. My son is not going to return, but we are proud of him,” he said.
