Srinagar, 13 January 2025: Authorities have issued a cautionary advisory for commuters on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway due to the risk of landslides and shooting stones in the Ramban-Banihal section with passengers urged to travel only during daylight hours and avoid unnecessary halts in the vulnerable areas.
An official stated, “The threat of shooting stones remains high, particularly between Ramban and Banihal. Travelers must adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a smooth journey.”
Despite the highway being open for two-way traffic as of 7:45 a.m., officials stressed strict adherence to lane discipline to prevent congestion.
"Overtaking on this route not only causes traffic jams but also increases risks for all travelers," added the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, alternative routes, including the SSG Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba Road, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Road, continue to remain closed.
Travelers are advised to stay updated on traffic conditions and exercise vigilance while navigating the highway.
