Srinagar, Sep 8: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally dry weather over the next two weeks, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers expected at isolated and scattered places, the Meteorological Centre said on Monday.
The weather is forecast to remain generally dry from September 8 to 12, although brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places.
From September 13 to 15, brief spells of rain or thundershowers are likely at scattered places, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours, the Met Centre said.
The weather is expected to turn generally dry again between September 16 and 19, though isolated brief spells of rain or thundershowers cannot be ruled out.
“No major weather activity is expected during the forecast period,” the Met Centre said, while noting that brief spells of rain or thundershowers could occur at isolated or scattered places.
The weather office has advised farmers to continue harvesting apples, paddy and other crops, along with other agricultural operations, during the period.
Meanwhile, temperatures remained moderate across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 27.8°C and a minimum of 14°C, with the minimum temperature 1.2°C below normal. Qazigund recorded 26.1°C and 12.2°C, while Pahalgam recorded 23.9°C and 10.2°C as its maximum and minimum temperatures, respectively.
In north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded a maximum of 28.7°C and a minimum of 12.2°C. Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 18.6°C, while the minimum settled at 8.4°C.
In the Jammu division, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 32.7°C and a minimum of 23.2°C, while Kathua was the warmest among the listed stations with a maximum of 32.9°C.
Kathua also recorded the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, receiving 21.8 mm, while Jammu and Katra received 0.2 mm and 0.8 mm, respectively, according to weather data.
