New Delhi, Oct 21: A Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) on Wednesday reserved his order on the judicial custody of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after Delhi Police sought a three-day extension of their custody, police sources said.
The two leaders were produced before the magistrate, where their sureties were also submitted during the proceedings.
Das and Ranka were initially remanded to five days of judicial custody on October 14 after being detained for allegedly entering the denotified protest site at Jantar Mantar and violating peace bonds.
Their custody was subsequently extended by two days on October 19 and was due to expire on Wednesday. Police have now sought a further three-day extension.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court declined to intervene in the matter, asking the two leaders to await the outcome of the proceedings before the SEM.
The High Court also indicated that they could approach the appellate court if their grievances persisted after the magistrate’s decision.
